My Weak Point: Can’t Focus
What do you think is the most crucial factor to be successful in your career? Some would say “Consistent Focus Level". This is very correct, as humans have to focus whatever they do, such as studying, cooking, doing sports, discussing, communicating, and so forth.
However, I need to admit that I don’t have a good focus level or focus skill. Yes, even now I’m writing this with a low focus level. This is a profound problem for me, so why don’t we dig into the cause of it and how to improve.
Looking back, there was little experience I really focused on something. But it worth to find them. I was absorbed in something while playing soccer, playing FIFA and during test, Karaoke, and after I was motivated by a book or a video. Therefore, it can be said that the act involves output and some stuff that motivates me can help me concentrate on something.
Then, let’s find out experts’ opinion about this topic. According to the article of Harvard Univ., we can improve concentration by mainly three ways. First of which, mindfulness will bring positive effects. Mindfulness is the act of focusing on the present moment and getting rid of things that comes up on our minds, which are very important in studying. Secondly, regular exercise will let us forget what we’ve been considering about and relieve our stress, leading the improvement of our focus levels. Finally, a cognitive training game is effective. By doing it repeatedly, we can raise our focus level, especially activating our working memory.
Hence, what should I do as the next step? I’ll try to make a habit of meditating everyday and throw&catching my earbuds as a way to focus.
